Novo Nordisk to launch Wegovy in Germany

Novo Nordisk will launch its weight-loss drug Wegovy® in Germany this month with the injection pen used in Norway and Denmark, instead of the one deployed in the United States to avoid hitting supplies there, the company told Reuters.

This is clearly good news for German patients wishing to purchase Wegovy although the drug won’t be available via public health services due to a ban on weight loss medication being made available by public health services.

It demonstrates Novo Nordisk’s intent to expand into more European markets while ring-fencing its supply in the US.
